A Cry for Justice, Mercy & Steadfast Love

God,
Why do You allow the torture, abuse, rape and disposal of Your children?!  Why are Your poor creatures going through the same without a voice?! What were You thinking when You put humans in charge?  We have ruined Your good creation while You keep Yourself at a distance remaining safe and untouched.

Where are You?!

Why don't You intervene?  Will You look upon the plight of the poor, the child, the victim, the animal and take notice of them?  Or will You ignore our cries for yet another generation?

Rouse Yourself!  Wake up!  Turn and see and hear!  Come to rescue us from one another!  Come and rescue us from ourselves!

Don't you care about Your children's agony today?  Will You wait until eternity to set things right?  How long, O Lord, must we go about mourning?  Why must we be haunted by nightmares of torture, abuse, neglect and destruction?

Where is the God from ages past?  When will You hear our cry?  How long until Your Day of justice, wholeness victory and peace?  When will Love truly reign?

Come, and destroy the destroyers, O Lord!  Remember Your promise from days of old.  Return to your creation, O Lord, my Beloved.

Come, and fill our hearts with Your peace.  Come, and bid Your creation to come to You.  Let  us gather before You.  Let Love, Justice, Mercy & Wisdom reign supreme, and let the new creation be fully revealed.

Lord of life, Lord over all, let Your presence be known throughout the earth.  Let us walk in the ways of You, Lord!  May Your peoples proclaim Your glory by seeking justice, offering mercy and abiding in steadfast love and faithfulness until You come again.

Teach us, Lord, how to best show You wherever we are.  Holy Spirit, stir up Love within us.  Beloved, pitch Your tent among us this day.  Amen.

This is a prayer from my journal,
dated Monday, 24 October 2011 @ 5 a.m.
This prayer flows from the heart in the wee hours of the morning after a nightmare from the past.  I am steeped in the words of the prophets and I soak in the psalms on a regular basis.  I've linked to several passages that have likely influenced my prayer today.

We've been studying the Psalms and Lamentations in a seminary class for several weeks.  Both books encourage gut-wrenching honesty before the throne of the Most High.  Ready to be honest in prayer? Read this again, and join me in a heart-felt cry for justice.  May the Lord answer quickly! Amen.

Gut wrenching honesty, what a concept we often ignore. Immersion in the Psalms lets us know it is the human condition, but one we too often ignore. Good words and a challenge to your readers.
